#GivingTuesday was celebrated yesterday (November 29th). It's been an international day of giving since 2012. What was originally launched in New York City is now a global movement that according to the Giving Tuesday website, "inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity." This year's campaign was celebrated in over 80 countries!
Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services would like to thank those who participated and supported local organizations, including #GCBHS. We would also like to thank Fresh Encounter, Inc. the parent company of #RemkeMarkets for their continued support of Giving Tuesday and our organization.
The company, along with their customers, donated $100,000 to local food banks and mental health organizations.
According to the Remke Market Facebook page and Fresh Encounter co-owner and VP of Marketing Julie Anderson, “One facet of our mission is to nourish the communities we serve, with nutritious food and support of non-profit organizations. Giving Tuesday is a perfect time to give resources to the local food banks as they work to help us fight food insecurities as well as mental health that affect people in this region, a problem that no one should have to face.”
Remke's annual holiday food bag drive runs through December 31st. You can purchase a food bag for $3, $5 or $10 at any local Remke Market and all proceeds will support select community food banks that are part of the Feeding America network.
