Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Symptoms of PTSD can be short term or impact some people for the rest of their lives.

Anyone can experience PTSD regardless of age, gender, and race. PTSD can occur when someone experiences or witnesses a threatening event. It is important to remember that not everyone with PTSD has been through a dangerous event. PTSD can also be caused by learning that someone close to you has experienced a traumatic event.
Many people who are diagnosed with PTSD do not receive the help they need. Since 2014, the month of June has been dedicated to educating people about PTSD and the treatments available so that they can lead to a better quality of life.
