Volunteer Opportunities

GCB is here to help people with mental illness live productive and fulfilling lives. Would you like to be a part of our work? Are you looking for a way to give your time and talents? We have many opportunities available for you whether you volunteer for an hour or so, or make a commitment over several months. There are a variety of ways to get involved, and any needed training will be provided. We’ll help you find the right fit to put your special talents to work for the good of others in our community.

Direct service opportunities are immediately available at Kemper House, our co-ed residential facility:

  • Host a monthly birthday party for residents
  • Prepare creative birthday gift bags for residents
  • Help with social activities such as games or arts and crafts
  • Lead group discussions on current events, news, sports, celebrities, etc.
  • Host a lunch or dinner and involve residents in the preparation
  • Home improvement projects such as painting, clean-up, and repair projects
  • Seasonal gardening projects
  • Personal item drives, such as clothing, hygiene items, books and magazines – always needed

Our Welcome Center also has opportunities for volunteers:

  • Help with social activities such as games or arts and crafts
  • Lead group discussions on current events, news, sports, celebrities, or a special hobby or interest, etc.
  • Host an ice cream social or a pizza party
  • Host group outings to the art museum, a ball game, or bowling
  • Lead a yoga or tai chi demonstration or class

Our group homes (GCB-owned properties) always have a need for home improvement projects.

Other opportunities are available with our Champions of Hope special fundraising event and in our arts program to identify venues to exhibit and sell clients’ artwork.

When you’re ready to get involved, please contact Rusty Sheehan, Development Director, for more information at 513-354-7005, or check out our "Volunteer Online Application Form" to select and join one of our available oportunities.
